Time in Costa Rica includes cows!We boast about the Beaches on this Pacific Coast Paradise, where you will no doubt spend fun and relaxing time in Costa Rica. However, there are amazing National Parks to visit with protected areas and reserves where you will experience the natural beauty and resources.

There is opportunity close to La Carolina Condo at Brasilito, in this northwest Province of Guanacaste. With just a few tips, you can be your own guide. Enjoy heading to the National Parks to experience the Volcanoes – some are active too!

Closest to La Carolina Condo at Brasilito, is Las Baulas Marine National Park on the coast at the town of Grande.  Directly east is the Lomas Barbudal Biological Reserve. It is known for its’ large population of bees. 25% of the world’s bee population lives here! There is a small museum there called Casa Patrimonio which details the fauna and flora of the reserve.

North of La Carolina Condo at Brasilito you will find the Santa Rosa National Park, Guanacaste National Park and Rincon de la Viejo National Park. The Rincon National Park is 2.5 hours away and has the best zip lines!  Santa Rosa National Park is gorgeous offering zip lines, horseback riding, water slides and a popular local spa. The most majestic volcano is the Arenal in the Arenal National Park . It last erupted in 1968, however since 2010 there has been noticeable decreases in activity. (4 hours from La Carolina Condo at Brasilito)

Spend time in Costa Rica during the dry season from November to May and enjoy these celebrations:

January 1: New Year’s Day
March 31, 2013:  Easter – 3 day celebration (Easter Sunday is always the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox.
April 11: Battle of Rivas or Juan Santamarias
May 1: Labor Day

Spend time in Costa Rica during the rainy season June – October

June: Corpus Christi, St. Peter and St. Paul
July 25th is Guanacaste Day celebrating its annexation (2013)
August 2: Virgin of Los Angeles
August 15: Mother’s Day (Assumption day)
October 12: Dia de las Culturas Day

During Christmas week and Easter week there may be lack of services due to the local population observing their holidays. They love their vacations just like us! This may mean that bus schedules are minimal or not running at all. It may mean that convenience stores have limited hours.  If you plan accordingly and have provisions at La Carolina Condo this may be a welcome time in Costa Rica to languish in the pool.
